Launched 44 years ago today, the Apollo 11 space mission culminated in the attainment of a national goal set by President John F. Kennedy. The goal of safely landing a man on the moon was delivered in a presidential speech made exactly one week after my birth in 1961. Four days after the launch, the lunar module touched down on Earth’s natural satellite, and the next day Neil Armstrong made world history by stepping upon the Moon.

Test your knowledge of this historic event by solving this crossword puzzle dedicated to the memory of the human effort and sacrifice that enabled the exploration of space.
